TONY'S MUSIC PAGE
These are all my piano recordings.
Some of them are rather old and have some rather alarming mistakes :o)
But they're the best recordings I've been able to achieve so far.
For some reason, pressing the RECORD button has the same effect as playing to an audience - total mind-fry :o(
The Classical ones were mostly recorded on a Yamaha DGX620 which has quite a nice sound.
The Jazz ones were mostly recorded on a Yamaha Clavinova CVP405 which has a glorious sound.
All new recordings are made on the CVP405.
I started this page with all the tracks I had recorded up to June 2009.
New and updated recordings are dated so it's easier to see which ones have been changed or added since your last visit.
In order to minimise download time, all files are now MP3.

JAZZ (Improv)
All my life I've wanted to create my own music, rather than just play other people's. Unfortunately that means learning chord progressions and jazz scales. Fortunately I found a resource that makes it all a lot simpler - check out www.pianowithjonny.com where there are loads of freebie "quicktips" - that's what I did. Covid lockdown left me with no reasonable excuse to put off learning jazz from scratch! I transcribed some of Jonny's solos to give me a starting point on creating interesting lines. I'll be putting new efforts in this section as soon as they're fit to be heard :o) Some will probably be just piano solo, others will be layered starting with a chord progression using my piano's rhythm section and then the solo is added using the multitrack recording facility.
Turnaround 1 in C (110 bpm) - NOV 2021

(Old comments to remind me what needs revisiting!)
Yeah I know, I got the melody wrong in "Laura". Bite me. I'll get it right next time!
Yeah I know, Godard's Mazurk needs its rhythm kicking up the bum.
Yeah I know, Fantaisie Impromptu needs to be faster, but hey, YOU try playing it, it's a killer :o)
... and yeah, I did notice I fumbled it really badly near the end, in case you were wondering ;o)
Getting it right first time is no fun and there'd be no need to practise any more!
This is always going to be a "work in progress". Loads more to come.
I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I've enjoyed making it.
